Oriental Daily News is a popular Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia with a long history of providing news and information to its readers. In recent years, the company has faced declining sales and a decrease in reader engagement, as more people have turned to online sources for their news. In response to this trend, Oriental Daily News decided to launch a mobile app in order to reach a wider audience and improve reader engagement. Learn more

Challenge

The challenge for our team was to create a mobile app that would not only provide readers with easy access to the newspaper's content, but also enhance the overall user experience and encourage reader engagement for wide audiences from 12 to 60 years old. We had to design and develop a user interface that was intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible, while also providing a seamless integration with the newspaper's existing website and content management system.

Solution

Our team decided to use React Native for the development of the Oriental Daily News mobile app. This allowed us to create a high-performance, cross-platform app that could be used on both iOS and Android devices. We designed a user interface that was clean and modern, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. The app featured a variety of customization options, including personalized news feeds and the ability to save and share articles.

Result & Impact

The Oriental Daily News mobile app was a huge success, with over 50,000 downloads in the first few months after its release. The app received positive feedback from readers, who appreciated the convenience and ease of use of the app. In addition, the app helped to increase reader engagement and improve the overall reader experience.
